In an impoverished, high-crime neighborhood, no one has the time, the trust or the faith to go to mass any longer. The Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church is dying. The Parish Priest, Father Marco, is struggling to get his congregation back. He’s a wholesome Man of God, a “Priest next door,” who’s experiencing his own crisis of faith: On the one hand, he’s eager to preach against the constant brutality human beings inflict upon one another. On the other, no one is there to listen. His masses are a no show. But he stoically officiates them anyway, speaking to desolate pews, and to himself.
During one of these services, evil appears in the guise of a mass murderer with the goal to kill as many people as possible. Finding only a Priest inside the church, the killer shoots him three times and flees.
Father Marco goes through a Near Death Experience where his soul leaves his body but is swiftly sucked back in. He returns from the dead- alive, but transformed. He soon realizes he can remote view things in real time: killings, crime, tragedies. Minutes before they happen, his soul leaves his body and travels right there to watch them until they’re over.
A divine irony: the human brutality that Father Marco was so genuinely eager to preach against, now he can see. Which means he can stop it. But praying won’t be good enough… he must act!
So, he teams up with LAPD Detective Larson, a cynical non-believer who, wondrously, is the only one who can help him. A journey begins where their lives will be changed forever.
