Guru Nanak a 15th century teacher, poet, and revolutionary activist, whose universal message, the oneness of God, equality for all, women’s empowerment, service to others, and devotion to nature and the environment were well ahead of his time.
Guru Nanak is the founder of Sikhism, the world’s fifth largest religion. His story is virtually unknown to Americans and the Western World.
The documentary was photographed on location at the Sikh’s Golden Temple in India, as well as his birthplace and where the community was established in the Punjab region of Pakistan, as well as locations throughout the United States. The doc features such prominent Sikh luminaries ranging from Grammy nominee Snatam Kaur, to the first Sikh mayor in the United States, Mayor Ravi Bhalla of Hoboken New Jersey.
